#GreenSofis highlighted as a sustainable project by PMI Montevideo Chapter

Montevideo, November 12, 2024.

#GreenSofis recognized as one of the most relevant projects for Uruguay's 2030 sustainability agenda.

Today, the #GreenSofis initiative by Sofis Solutions was recognized as an outstanding project in the “Sustainability Projects Uruguay” contest, in the “Private Sector” category, during the 18th International Project Management Congress organized by PMI Montevideo Chapter. This award highlights the organization's commitment to sustainability within the framework of the #GreenSofis initiative, which applies a methodology for sustainable software development.

For Sofis Solutions, sustainable development is a fundamental pillar of its strategy and is integrated into its management, operations, and activities. In this regard, in mid-2022, the company implemented the #GreenSofis initiative, which focuses on defining, applying, and evaluating sustainable practices in its software development processes and the products delivered to its clients, based on ESG criteria: environmental, social, and governance.

The submission was based on the #GreenSofis initiative, which impacts sustainability by considering the mentioned criteria throughout the software’s lifecycle. It identifies needs for improving the software engineering process to include ESG aspects, setting objectives, analyzing change requirements and process modifications, defining indicators and target value ranges, designing and planning the Sustainable Digital Transformation Workshops, adapting and training processes for company operations, and applying the entire practice process under an established continuous improvement approach.

The “Sustainability Projects Uruguay” recognition is awarded to organizations that promote initiatives aligned with sustainable development and contribute to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this first edition, the most relevant projects for Uruguay’s 2030 sustainability agenda were acknowledged. Criteria considered included environmental impact, community impact, economic impact of the proposal, alignment with the SDGs, sustainability, replicability and scalability, community involvement, and implementation of good practices and management in the project.

The award ceremony took place during the 18th International Project Management Congress, where recognized organizations had the opportunity to share their initiatives with business leaders, representatives from PMI Montevideo Chapter, and invited experts involved in the Project Management profession.
