World Creativity and Innovation Day

San Salvador, April 21, 2020.

World Creativity and Innovation Day is celebrated every April 21, a date designated by the United Nations to promote multidisciplinary creative thinking that helps achieve the sustainable future we all long for.

Creativity and innovation therefore play a fundamental role in solving problems within the context of economic, social, and sustainable development. Innovation, in particular, is considered an essential tool that contributes to the economic growth of nations, as well as a notable improvement in people's well-being and quality of life.

In this regard, Sofis Solutions has an innovation department known as **Sofis Lab**, a space designed to tackle challenges, solve problems, and provide innovative solutions.

Sofis Lab focuses on research, analysis, and development of solutions based on four key technologies:

  • Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence: These technologies allow computer systems to make decisions and take actions without human intervention and without being specifically programmed for each possible situation. These systems can anticipate events, respond appropriately when events occur, and learn from known facts and the outcomes of previous decisions and actions. Their main goals often include issuing alerts, correcting problematic situations, and performing tasks efficiently.
  • Blockchain: This is a technology that enables working with digital data or assets in a distributed “database” that is trusted by all participating actors, without the need for a central trusted authority. This technology presents numerous challenges and opportunities. At Sofis Solutions, we explore blockchain applications, analyze the new issues it introduces, and develop solutions for them.
  • Internet of Things (IoT): This refers to a system of interconnected devices, objects, animals, and people that can be uniquely identified and are capable of transferring data over a network without requiring human interaction. This system enables automatic actions, predictions, and responses. At Sofis Solutions, we are applying IoT technologies in various sectors, including livestock management.
  • Social Innovation: Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) serve as tools for the development and social inclusion of vulnerable groups and communities. At Sofis Solutions, we understand ICT-based social innovations as new ideas (products, services, or models) that meet social needs more effectively than existing alternatives, while also creating new relationships or social collaborations — with ICT as a fundamental component of the solution.

It is important to note that Sofis Solutions aligns with the **Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)** and the **10 Principles of the United Nations Global Compact**, particularly **Goal 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure**. The company incorporates new technologies and innovative activities into all its projects to foster the sustainability of every system or service it develops.
