Sofis Solutions presents the 2019-2020 Progress Communication of the United Nations Global Compact and joins the 75th anniversary of the UN.

Since 2013 to date, Sofis Solutions has been a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact and annually submits its Communication on Progress (COP), which details advances made in applying the Ten Universal Principles related to Human Rights, Labor Rights, Environment, and Anti-Corruption, as well as the actions implemented and results achieved in contributing to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda.

Today, Sofis Solutions presents the Communication on Progress (COP) corresponding to the year 2019-2020, within the framework of its adherence to the United Nations Global Compact and its commitment to contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This voluntary initiative is an annual disclosure for organizations to inform their stakeholders about the efforts made to implement universal sustainability principles and thereby share, from their sphere of influence, emerging best practices related to the SDGs.

The Global Compact is based on the vision of former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan, who, at the 1999 World Economic Forum, made a special call to business leaders to ally with the United Nations in order to create a global impact on shared values and principles, contributing a human dimension to the global market. Currently, the Global Compact plays a crucial role in strengthening business collaboration with the United Nations. Regarding this, the current UN Secretary-General António Guterres has stated: "The private sector can and must play a central role in this advanced effort in international cooperation by engaging in public-private partnerships, seeking innovative solutions for shared challenges, and doing business responsibly."

The Communication on Progress (COP) for 2019-2020 covers advances, actions, and impact measurement related to the contribution towards sustainable development in favor of people, planet, and prosperity, intending to strengthen universal peace and access to justice, as these remain the greatest challenges worldwide.

Currently, Sofis Solutions is working and contributing to achieving the targets of the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

3. Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages.

4. Quality education.

5. Gender equality.

6. Clean water and sanitation.

7. Affordable and clean energy.

8. Decent work and economic growth.

17. Partnerships for the goals.

Additionally, on October 24, 2020, Sofis Solutions joined the commemoration of United Nations Day (UN Day), marking the anniversary of the entry into force of the UN Charter. Since 1971, the UN General Assembly has recommended that member states observe this day as a holiday. This year, the United Nations celebrated its 75th anniversary, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the UN Global Compact, during a moment aggravated by a global health crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sofis Solutions is part of the companies adhering to the United Nations Global Compact, and therefore participated in the social media campaign to commemorate United Nations Day.

The UN Global Compact invited personnel and supporters from its 11,000 participating companies and 3,000 non-business stakeholders to unite in celebrating this important day through a social media campaign. Participants were encouraged to add photos demonstrating their commitment using filters provided by the Global Compact containing key UN Charter words such as: Human Rights, Equality, Healthy Planet, Peace, Labor Rights, Dignity, and Justice, as well as hashtags #UN75 and #UnitingBusiness. In this way, the commitment to a better and more supportive world was reaffirmed.

Consequently, Sofis Solutions demonstrated through its social media activation some of the actions it has been working on regarding Human Rights and Gender Equality, for example, protecting the well-being of its employees through first aid training sessions and virtual meetings such as the webinar "Gender Approach in Educational Information Systems," an action that contributes to Principle 1 of the Global Compact and SDG 5 "Gender Equality."
