Sofis Solutions participated in the event “Technology and Innovation for Gender Equality”

Montevideo, March 21, 2023.

Within the framework of Women’s Month, DERES (Network of Companies for Sustainable Development) in Uruguay organized the in-person event “Technology and Innovation for Gender Equality.” This space facilitated the exchange of experiences and actions implemented by different organizations regarding inclusion with gender equity, through the use of technology and innovation.

On March 16, DERES held the event “Technology and Innovation for Gender Equality,” an opportunity for reflection and exchange of experiences related to the role of technology and innovation in reducing the gender gap.

Sofis Solutions was represented by Mtr. Laura Viré, Coordinator of Sustainable Integrated Management Systems, who shared the company’s experience and work on gender equity inclusion, ensuring equal and fair representation between women and men. During her presentation, some projects related to the topic were presented, along with their impact and relation to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“It was a meeting among different actors from academia, private sector, public agencies, and international organizations, which allowed for exchanging experiences, best practices, and technology projects contributing to SDG 5. It is enriching for Sofis Solutions, as we have been working on these projects for years, and the event allowed us to reflect, share ideas and experiences, and strengthen collaborative work,” said Mtr. Laura Viré.

Sofis Solutions works on projects based on information technologies to support digital government development and address social, environmental, and governance challenges through technology. Some projects impacting gender equity inclusion include:

  • Political Violence Against Women Portal in Ecuador: The design and implementation of this web portal highlights issues related to gender-based political violence against women in Ecuador. Its content allows users to learn about current regulations, protection mechanisms for victims, reporting and case follow-up processes, and consult a catalog of public support services and civil society organizations that provide guidance on the topic.
  • Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Portal in Ecuador for the 2030 Agenda:This project involved designing and building a web platform for implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Ecuador. The portal hosts information on reports, progress, statistics, indicators, and national initiatives that contribute to achieving the SDGs, including initiatives and indicators related to gender and SDG5.
  • Salvadoran Educational Management Information System (SIGES):This system centralizes student data nationwide and includes information by academic level and service modality. Its unique database and architecture allow gender-based analysis of variables and tracking a student’s journey within the education system.

At the close of the event, Mtr. Viré thanked DERES for the invitation to participate in the panel and for the opportunity to share Sofis Solutions’ work on gender equity inclusion, ensuring that no one is left behind.
