Sofis Solutions obtains ISO 37001:2016 certification for its anti-bribery management system

Montevideo, June 7, 2019.

Today, Sofis Solutions has obtained ISO 37001:2016 certification for its Anti-Bribery Management System, granted by Intertek under the accreditation scheme of UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Services). ISO 37001:2016 specifies the measures an organization must implement to prevent bribery, whether directly or indirectly, by its personnel or business partners acting on its behalf or in relation to its activities.

According to Engineer Santiago Atella, Director of Sofis Solutions, "achieving this certification is a key step in consolidating the company’s mission, which is focused on Information Technology projects with the public sector. The certification process was very demanding, involving multiple audits by international auditors, who not only evaluated Sofis, but also key business partners."

Sofis Solutions is the first company in Uruguay to obtain this certification, and the first in Latin America within the Information Technology sector. Since 2008, when Sofis Solutions joined the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact, the company has been working to uphold its commitment to transparent practices.

"This certification is fundamental to the company’s regional internationalization process, which also focuses on projects and services with public institutions, as well as on the transparency of operations in accordance with international standards," said Engineer Gustavo Cirigliano, Director of Sofis.

The implementation of the management system focused on analyzing national and international contextual factors that could affect transparency, ethics, or directly impact Sofis Solutions’ Anti-Bribery Policy. A risk assessment was then conducted to identify potential bribery risks and define mitigation actions. This involved updating and creating plans, processes, procedures, controls, and reviews to fully implement the system.

"The certification required a two-stage audit process by Intertek, during which compliance with the standard was validated. The audits involved several critical roles within the management system and included interviews with the majority of the company’s staff. Obtaining this certificate is part of a transparency initiative that encourages all organizations, both public and private, to operate in environments committed to ethics and anti-corruption practices," stated Ms. Laura Viré, the person responsible for the management system at Sofis Solutions.

Sofis Solutions is a company specialized in Information Technology projects for the public sector. Since 2005, it has participated in various projects across the region, including Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, El Salvador, The Bahamas, and Peru, among others. In 2015, the company advanced its internationalization strategy in Latin America by establishing an office in El Salvador to serve the Central American region.
