Today marked the conclusion of the technical training sessions on the Salvadoran Educational Management Information System (SIGES) for technical staff of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MINEDUCYT). The sessions were delivered by project consultants Martín Vilche and Sergio Pio, who covered topics related to SIGES infrastructure and development.
According to Martín Vilche, SIGES project consultant: "The initial training focused on the use and understanding of the project's technologies, such as Docker and OpenShift, for the deployment of microservices and the entire infrastructure behind the solution. Proper use of these tools will help the technical staff at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology better understand how SIGES is structured."
The training, led by the project consultants, was divided into two parts: infrastructure and development. Regarding the development section, Sergio Pio stated: "The second part of the course focused on how the application is programmed, its component structure, and the organization of the source code. We reviewed how they create new catalogs and modify the application."
"Regarding the architecture and technology used, I find it excellent. Given the size and scope of the project, developing it using traditional technologies would have been complex and difficult. But with the cutting-edge technologies implemented, it’s a perfect fit,” added Sergio Pio.
Vilche also pointed out: "These are microservices-oriented technologies like OpenShift, which are gaining strong momentum nowadays. This SIGES project is ideal for their implementation."
