Sofis Solutions and FEDISAL sign IT system contract for Flexible Modalities and Technical Training

San Salvador, September 12, 2019.

Today, Sofis Solutions and the Foundation for Comprehensive Salvadoran Education (FEDISAL) officially signed the contract for the development and implementation of the Integral Operational Management System (SIGO), a system that will facilitate the administration of the reengineering of Flexible Modalities in its three lines of training: Academic, Labor, and Socio-emotional.

The event was attended by Lic. Héctor Quiteño, Executive Director of FEDISAL, and Ing. Gustavo Cirigliano, Director of Sofis Solutions. Also present were witnesses Dr. Jorge Arévalo (Director of the Education Project for Children and Youth), Lic. Yesenia Cubías (Deputy Director of the Education Project for Children and Youth), Lic. Hilda Rosales (Youth Specialist of the USAID Education Project for Children and Youth), Dr. Víctor San Martín (Coordinator of Flexible Modalities Reengineering, FEDISAL-USAID), and Lic. Elvis Toledo (IT Specialist for the Education Project for Children and Youth).

The consultancy titled "Development and implementation of an integrated management information system for Flexible Modalities and Technical Training" aims to design, develop, and implement an integrated management information system for Flexible Modalities and Technical Training, including regulations and based on three main axes: Academic, Didactic, and Financial.

The system will be divided into five modules: Enrollment and student registration with social record, Academic tracking, Didactic repository, Finance and administrative management module, and Proficiency test management. Additionally, it will allow the generation of traditional reports, reports with information derived from data analytics of the other system modules, and will have a connection to the Salvadoran Educational Management Information System (SIGES) of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MINEDUCYT).

According to Lic. Héctor Quiteño, Executive Director of FEDISAL, "We have taken an important step by making an agreement with a consulting company that is designing the Ministry of Education’s (MINED) global information system, so that this component we are going to design is fully integrated and transparent for MINED and its different units."

"It is important to pay attention to the area of Flexible Modalities because it serves youth and adults (a very large and needy population) who had to drop out of school to contribute to family income," says Lic. Héctor Quiteño, Executive Director of FEDISAL.

"This project reinforces our commitment to generating information systems that contribute to better decision-making in the education areas and that enable the construction of better and more effective public policies. We have been working in the region for several years on this topic, and this consultancy will strengthen the strategy of using the digital transformation of organizations to improve citizens' quality of life, as flexible education modalities reach a very important population in El Salvador.", says Gustavo Cirigliano, Director of Sofis Solutions for Central America.
