After being awarded the international tender for the design and implementation of an educational information management system for the Ministry of Education of El Salvador, Sofis Solutions this week welcomed a delegation from the Ministry of Education (MINED) and FOMILENIO II to Uruguay. The visitors participated in the Technical Exchange Sessions to delve into the specifications of the future system, called the Salvadoran Educational Management Information System (SIGES), as well as to learn about similar experiences.
The SIGES project will be developed over two years and will serve 1,600,000 students and 60,000 teaching and non-teaching staff throughout the country, in both public and private education systems. The new system will modernize and decentralize information management while providing services to citizens. It is expected that, with SIGES, principals, teachers, and administrative staff will spend less time on bureaucratic tasks and more time on pedagogical activities.
The Salvadoran delegation is composed of Fátima Rodríguez Erazo, project leader and Manager of Strategic Planning at MINED; Sandra Patricia Rodríguez, in charge of the Educational Quality component at FOMILENIO II; José Carlos Márquez, Manager of Innovation and Research at MINED; and Martín Ulises Aparicio, Manager of Teacher Training at MINED.
The development process for this system began last December and will continue for 24 months. It is currently in the development stage. The project was awarded to Sofis Solutions by FOMILENIO II last November and is funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
As a result of these sessions, the delegation was able to exchange experiences with the technical team of Sofis Solutions on functional, technological, technical, implementation, and human resource training aspects related to the project.
