Launch of the Cybersecurity Training Service

Montevideo, May 11, 2021.

Organizations and governments need to be prepared to detect, prevent, and protect their most important assets, such as computer systems, infrastructure, intellectual property, and data of their clients and/or citizens, as well as have tools to react appropriately in the event of a cyber attack. Therefore, it is extremely important that work teams are trained to respond and design Cybersecurity solutions.

On April 28, Sofis Solutions held the official launch of its Cybersecurity Training service, within the framework of presenting new Cybersecurity services that the company will soon offer starting this year, including: Technical Audits and Security in software development. The online event was chaired by Eng. Gustavo Cirigliano, CEO of Sofis Solutions, and featured the participation of Mtr. Jorge Orchilles, Instructor at SANS Institute.

In April, Sofis Solutions announced its partnership with SANS Institute to offer high-level Cybersecurity courses to the markets of Uruguay and El Salvador. Within this partnership, the company presented a catalog of Cybersecurity courses focused on six areas: Blue-Team Operations, Cloud Security, Digital Forensics and Incident Response, Industrial Control Systems, Leadership, and Offensive Operations.

As highlighted by Eng. Cirigliano: "… we all know the relevance of Cybersecurity, especially in recent times, so it is important to have trained professionals who constitute an extremely important element to prevent, detect, and protect systems and networks against dangerous threats… This alliance with SANS Institute allows us to offer high-level courses, which will have world-class instructors and also enable certification in each of the topics."

For his part, Mtr. Jorge Orchilles, Instructor at SANS Institute, shared the presentation What is Purple Teaming?, which is a virtual team that collaborates with Cyber Threat Intelligence, Red Team, and Blue Team teams. He also highlighted, "… the Purple Team generates value to improve all security and technology, both for organizations and for the people working in Cybersecurity."

Additionally, he spoke about the evolution of Ethical Hacking, cyber threat intelligence, and shared the most commonly used frameworks and methodologies in the industry, including MITRE ATT&CK, which is the most widely used and recognized methodology in attacks, as it is a structured list of known attack behaviors grouped into tactics and techniques, expressed in several matrices.

To conclude, he shared some lessons learned and how improvements should be made; he mentioned: "… it is good to know where you are today and to show that you are improving by doing these drills. Security is not just technology; security is mostly people and processes that we follow, enabled by technology. But simply buying all the technology and using it in the organization does not necessarily make you secure, and if you do not do these drills, you will not know how secure you are until the 'ransom' or the attack happens."
