DERES recognized Sofis Solutions for its Anti-Bribery Management System

Montevideo, November 28, 2019.

Sofis Solutions is the first company in Uruguay and the first in the Information Technology (IT) sector in Latin America to obtain the ISO 37001:2016 certification for its Anti-Bribery Management System, which proposes a series of measures that help organizations prevent, detect, and combat bribery.

In the 8th Edition of the Recognitions for Best Business Practices that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), DERES recognized Sofis Solutions for the "implementation of an Anti-Bribery Management System as a way to promote anti-corruption practices," a practice that contributes to SDG 16 "Peace, justice and strong institutions" and SDG 17 "Partnerships to achieve the goals."

This recognition is based on the ISO 37001:2016 certification obtained by Sofis from Intertek, under the accreditation system of the United Kingdom Accreditation Service.

Lic. Laura Viré, Sofis Solutions’ quality manager and leader of the team executing the activities to achieve this milestone, explained that "this certification consists of a series of measures, controls, and procedures to follow that allow the prevention, detection, and treatment of bribery risks that an organization may have."

Sofis works daily to strengthen its mission of improving people's quality of life through digital transformation of organizations and technological inclusion. Regarding this, Eng. Santiago Atella, director of Sofis, said, "obtaining this certification is a fundamental step to consolidate the company's mission focused on IT projects with the public and private sectors. The certification process was very demanding, including multiple audits by international auditors who evaluated Sofis Solutions and key business partners."

Anti-corruption practices are strongly linked to our mission, because as the public sector and all organizations become more transparent and free from corrupt practices, public funds can be allocated to more services for the population, improving everyone's quality of life.

Eng. Gustavo Cirigliano, director of Sofis, adds: "this certification is fundamental in the company's regional internationalization process, which also focuses on projects and services with public institutions, as well as the transparency of operations according to international standards."

DERES, a non-profit business organization that brings together the main companies in Uruguay seeking to develop Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability, recognized companies whose actions, related to their business strategies, contribute to meeting goals linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the 2030 agenda.

For Sofis Solutions, receiving DERES recognition for the implementation of an Anti-Bribery Management System is very important. Aiming for transparency and good practices, the company is convinced this is the path to follow together with all public and private organizations that collaborate with us.
