San Salvador, June 21, 2019.
As part of the consultancy for the Design and Implementation of the Information System for the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MINEDUCYT) of El Salvador, the Second Technical Conference was held in San Salvador on June 19 and 20, 2019. Representatives from FOMILENIO II, MINEDUCYT, and Sofis Solutions participated, presenting on the system's development progress, implementation challenges, lessons learned, improvement opportunities, and proposals for upcoming activities.
On June 19, as part of this conference, the awards ceremony for the “SIGES Entre Todos” (SIGES All Together) contest was also held. The goal of the contest was to reward educational centers that had implemented innovative and collaborative initiatives regarding the internal implementation of the system. The winning schools had the opportunity to present their work and engage in discussions and feedback with the participants. The jury, composed of members from FOMILENIO II, MINEDUCYT, and Sofis Solutions, evaluated the submissions. The award ceremony was attended by Mr. William Pleités, Executive Director of FOMILENIO II.
The workshop also included a panel on the gender perspective being incorporated into the information system. During this panel, Sofis Solutions’ gender specialist presented the progress, challenges, and initial findings from the system’s early implementation phase. The panel also included contributions from Ms. Violeta Muñoz and Ms. Jessica Sorto from FOMILENIO II, and Ms. Luisa Escobar from Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

"This is a very important instance for the progress of the consultancy, as it enables the exchange of opinions and experiences among different stakeholders. Multi-location consultancies, such as SIGES, involving consultants from Uruguay and El Salvador, require these moments of joint in-person reflection and planning, where other key actors in the system’s implementation can also contribute and understand the project from their perspective, ultimately improving the education system," stated Gustavo Cirigliano, project coordinator at Sofis Solutions.
SIGES (Salvadoran Educational Management Information System) is part of the consultancy project "Design and Implementation of an Educational Information System for the Ministry of Education", and is funded by FOMILENIO II of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
