Montevideo Libre is a tool that guarantees the right of access to culture for students from various levels and public educational programs in the department of Montevideo. This initiative is part of the Smart City strategy carried out by the Montevideo City Hall.
Through this tool, young people can reserve tickets for shows and receive an electronic ticket (eTicket) to present at the ticket offices of cultural centers. In this way, traditional printed tickets are eliminated.
From Sofis Solutions’ perspective, the project aimed at designing, implementing, and launching this tool. It allows users to search for different types of shows—cinema, theater, opera, dance, carnival, museums, among others—and manage access through ticket reservations and acquisitions.
Smart Cities or Digital Cities is a concept based on the intensive use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the delivery of high-quality public services that are warm, secure, productive, competitive, innovative, entrepreneurial, participatory, and focused on education and training.
This tool, which brings citizens closer to municipal management through information technologies, aims to improve their quality of life and is framed within the development of smart cities.
