Adherence to the Principles for Digital Development

Montevideo, April 13, 2021.

Technological development is increasingly integrated into the operations of sectors such as health, education, agriculture, among others. Through this, interaction with citizens is improved, providing greater opportunities for service delivery, increasing efficiency, and demonstrating transparency. This entails that organizations related to technology development, innovation, and connectivity can generate better practices around the creation of tools and proper use of technological resources.

Today, Sofis Solutions adheres to the Principles for Digital Development, an initiative that promotes 9 "living" guidelines designed to guide professionals working on projects related to digital development in integrating best practices within their organizations around their policies, processes, and activities. The objective of the Principles is to support organizations in creating technological tools and programs to bridge the digital divide and generate better services for people.

Therefore, Sofis Solutions adopts these guidelines in its work culture to contribute within its sphere of influence to continue generating software products focused on improving people’s quality of life through the digital transformation of organizations and technological inclusion.

The organization decided to join this initiative after reviewing its practices and vision for ongoing and completed projects, concluding that to date it has contributed to the development of various tools and projects aligned with the Principles for Digital Development. Among these are the Sistema de Información para la Gestión Educativa Salvadoreña (SIGES), Uruguay Post Office Portal, Sistema Integrado de Formación en Turismo (SIFOTUR), various projects for CEIBAL, and the ODS web portal in Ecuador, among others.

These Principles were created through an effort driven by the digital development community for its members without excluding sector, industry, size, specialty, or geographic location of organizations. They are based on lessons learned from hundreds of professionals worldwide, promoting, sharing, and replicating exchange initiatives related to best practices in managing technology and innovation projects.

These dynamic guidelines are intended to be updated and refined over time to remain relevant as technology and innovation advance.

Principles for Digital Development

“With adherence to the digital development principles, we reaffirm our commitment to applying good practices in the various IT projects we carry out and to extending these practices to our clients as one of Sofis Solutions’ mission fulfillment strategies. Ensuring that the systems developed reach the entire population and are designed with them in mind means greater adoption. Development based on open technologies and standards, generating open data, and incorporating elements to protect users' privacy are guiding principles of the Sofis Solutions team’s work,” highlights Ing. Gustavo Cirigliano, CEO of Sofis Solutions.

Through this adherence, Sofis Solutions commits to including the Principles for Digital Development in its various IT projects and promoting these "living" guidelines among its stakeholders to continue providing technological solutions and tools focused on improving people’s quality of life through best practices in the use of ICT, and to share lessons learned from their implementation, which will serve for continuous learning.
