Montevideo, August 4, 2018.

From August 1 to 3, 2018, the 4th Smart Cities Meeting was held, organized by the Municipality of Montevideo. The third day of the event was dedicated to presenting technological challenges and findings that will enable the immediate future acceleration and development of new solutions and innovation strategies. Engineer Santiago Atella from Sofis Solutions gave a talk on Microservices Architectures and their application in smart cities.

During the presentation, emphasis was placed on the evolution of traditional architectures, applications in which microservices architectures can be used, and platform as a service (PaaS), particularly those based on RedHat’s OpenShift.

Eng. Atella presented the challenges these architectures pose from both a technological and development/operations standpoint (versioning, auditing, context boundaries, among others).
